  1. Who am I? I am Jessica by birth; the friends I circle with call me Akasha. I am a daughter, sister, wife, and mother. I consider myself a free spirit. I am an artist, a teacher, student, energy worker, psychic, dancer, water lover, tree hugger, minister, and very blessed.
  2. What is my one Brave thing? Deciding to work for myself full-time instead of a secure paying job.
  3. When did you do it? This past winter
  4. Where did you do? I’d been wanting to do it for a few years but financially was not able to give up a paycheck. So I suppose it happened in my mind a lot earlier than this past winter.
  5. How did I make it happen? Hard work! It was not easy. I started my business about five years ago. It was just a second income, some spending money. I had fear and self-doubt about being able to do it without another paycheck. Then this past winter I was given a push (the universe works in mysterious ways sometimes) and when that happened I said it’s ‘now or never’. So I jumped in head  first.
  6. Why did I do it? I was very unhappy with my work situation. I’ve worked very hard for a few different employers. but when you work for someone else, you’re always expendable. It doesn’t matter how hard you work or how much of yourself you give to them; you’re always expendable. I had a really bad experience with the last place I was employed that made me quite sour. I didn’t want to go back to work for somebody who wasn’t nice and I knew I wanted to be happy with what I was doing and I wanted some self fulfillment. Working for myself has given me all the things I had wanted and I consider myself very lucky and very blessed to be in the position I am in. I may not have a ton of income but my own self health is more important than how much my paycheck is every week.
