My name is Laura Susanne (Stewart) Shortridge.
Long name for a short person I know, but every name has deep meaning for me and I share them with pride.
I’m brave because I embrace who I am, where I came from, and what I want to become.
It hasn’t always been that way.
I have been married 40 years and raised 6 children. It was my choice to be wife and (mostly) stay-at-home mom. It was my choice to home school for 20 years and to be involved in Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and church leadership roles. I loved being actively involved in nurturing and teaching our children.
It was not my choice to do it alone. After a great 18-year start, my husband chose to spiritually walk a different path. He lived in the same house (usually) and provided for our physical needs, but mentally and spiritually, the kids and I were on our own. Trying desperately to be both Mom and Dad, I lost my identity along the way.
After a decade of trudging along day-to-day the best I knew how, I was introduced to a Multi-Level Marketing company (MLM) that changed my trajectory. It wasn’t just the money and great products (I’m a lifer!), but the personal development program they offered. The books, audios, seminars, conferences, and especially the positive people I started to hang out with helped me rediscover who I am. As my mindset changed, my whole life changed for the better.
I was not only able to be ME again, but I was a new, improved version that still continues to learn and grow. Unique, divine gifts (I call them Dream Seeds) begin to sprout in my heart.
I knew I was meant for more than living in mediocrity.
In my book, Unipreneur: How to Live Your Passion in a House Full of Dream-Killers, I was brave enough to share my struggles, show my vulnerability, and admit my mistakes.
I have shown others that it IS POSSIBLE to follow your heart AND have great relationships with those dream-killers that you happen to love and want to keep in your life.
I have provided tips and tools to help you. And hopefully YOU will become brave also.
