I used to be very active. Even though the closest studio was a bit of a hike for me to get to, I went to yoga several times a week. It wasn’t always an easy class, either, but I went.

Practicing yoga is one of my favorite ways to exercise, but somehow, I got a way from it. A series of small things occurred, not the least of which was my favorite yoga teacher (Kristen! I miss you!) moved several states away. And the less I exercised, the more I ate.

The more I ate, the smaller my yoga clothes got.

And the smaller my yoga clothes got, the less I wanted to go to yoga.

So, I didn’t go. I would think about going, and sometimes I would go, but when I did, I became aware of how tight my clothes felt. It was distracting. It didn’t make me feel good. Instead of concentrating on yoga poses, I was thinking about my tight pants. How awful it is when your stretchy pants are too tight!

🙁

And suddenly I had a thought: buy some larger yoga pants.

I got my ego out of the way and did. And just like that: The obstacle had become the way. Because after I did that, I started going to yoga again. I found a studio very close to my house that I love, and then I found another studio even closer to my house that I also love!

So, what’s getting in the way of you accomplishing your goals? How can you transform the obstacle into the way for yourself?
