I rarely have an unscheduled day but today, I did.
A day to do whatever I feel like doing whenever I feel like doing it.
Started it off well as usual with #CeleryJuice (there is actually a new book coming out devoted entirely to the benefits of this: Medical Medium Celery Juice by Anthony William) and #HeavyMetalDetoxSmoothie (thank you for these, #MedicalMedium).
After that, it turned out to be a day of sitting and flitting from couch to computer to kitchen (#ilovealliteration) … I took periodic forays off the couch to do whatever popped into my head to do. I flitted from one thing to the next to the next without censoring my thoughts or impulses.
The forays of flitting included:
- Writing, including blogging and journaling and emailing or FB messaging friends
- Reading some of my book-in-progress (We Must Be Brave by Frances Liardet)
- Food (because #itsallabouthtefood)
- Mediation, including pulling cards, sitting with crystals, looking for inner guidance for a change
- Household things (because, laundry)
- Walking a short distance outside (to breathe the fresh air)
- Throwing the microwave heat packs into the microwave (Grampa’s Garden)
In one of the conversations I was having with a friend, where we were discussing how our respective days were unfolding, she described this process as making a ‘nest’. Nesting, I thought, sounds exactly right. The Nesting Instinct: It’s not just for expectant mothers, anymore. 😉
And then I realized that I actually saw a nest on one of my (oh so very short) walks outside earlier. I ran out to take a picture of it, because the fact of my friend mentioning a nest immediately elevated the importance of me seeing one.
The nest also strikes me as a wonderful symbol of #change, my word for 2019.
Aside: This post reminds me of a book of short stories that I read years ago by one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Berg, called The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted, so I thought I’d mention it.
