Meditation practice

Over the years, I have had an on-again, off-again relationship with meditation.

I like the idea of it, but I don’t always like to make time to do it.

There are just so many other things that I have to do every day … although I do feel calmer if I start my day by sitting for a while without my phone or other distractions clamoring for my attention every minute.

My meditation practice was definitely languishing recently …

and then I found this cool hour glass at a thrift shop!

See the cool hourglass with pink sand is on the right!

I also came upon some new crystals (one was given to me by a friend, and one I had already and rediscovered). I found this great Solar Plexus/Purpose candle at my favorite place to get crystals, Zen and Company. And, of course, Owl. Keep reading

Make a self care basket 🔆🎈🎨

I talk a lot about about making time for self care.

Here is something you can do in 5 minutes or so to give yourself some tools that will be ready when you are to take 5 minutes for yourself:

—a small basket (but you can use a tray or even a gift bag—whatever you have) with crayons 🖍 , crystals, a card deck, journal and pen … you get the idea. Whatever YOU want.

BONUS: It can become a portable altar.

If you want some privacy and/or are not interested in feedback about your creation from various other people in your household, Tuck it under the bed (or in a closet, or in a drawer) when not in use, pull it out for a few minutes first thing in the morning or before you go to sleep. Pull a card, or write a few lines in your journal, or simply sit with your crystal of choice for a few moments and breathe. Keep reading

Determination

I was feeling discouraged about how things were going in my business recently when I ran into a dear friend at one of my favorite local health and wellness shops. After we hugged, she asked me how things were going, and I said something about being stalled–whatever I said, I’m sure my discouragement shone through.

Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out this crystal and put it in my hand.

“Take this. It’s fluorite. It’s for determination,” she told me. Keep reading

My One Word 2020: Definition

I’ve been thinking about choosing #Faith as My One Word for many years now.

This idea occurred to me when I was writing one of my books. My maternal grandmother had triplet sisters that, sadly, didn’t survive infancy. They were so tiny that they put them into bureau drawers to sleep instead of cribs (according to my memory of family lore, which may or may not be fully accurate).

Their names were Faith, Hope, and Charity.

I thought  it would be great to honor them by choosing one (and maybe more in the future) of their names as My One Word to focus on for the year.

This is the year.

I didn’t get the engraved “faith” stone for this particular purpose; I already I had it. It’s flanked by an Amethyst and a Smoky Quartz that I love. I gave it a place of honor, a place where I will see it frequently throughout the day. Keep reading

Sitting and flitting

I rarely have an unscheduled day but today, I did.

A day to do whatever I feel like doing whenever I feel like doing it.

Started it off well as usual with #CeleryJuice (there is actually a new book coming out devoted entirely to the benefits of this: Medical Medium Celery Juice by Anthony William) and #HeavyMetalDetoxSmoothie (thank you for these, #MedicalMedium).

After that, it turned out to be a day of sitting and flitting from couch to computer to kitchen (#ilovealliteration) … I took periodic forays off the couch to do whatever popped into my head to do. I flitted from one thing to the next to the next without censoring my thoughts or impulses. Keep reading

Clearing your energy

I went to a class at Lavish Earth Holistic Center and Crystal Showroom in Westbrook last weekend. The topic was Beginning Energy Workshop.pendulum 1First,  Amy taught us all a method of clearing ourselves that was new to me. I have used it often since the class–every day, in fact! I love it.

Then she talked about the ceremony of using crystals as part of energy healing, and I thought, YES! YES! YES! This! I love how she added a new dimension for me to how I do this work.
An added bonus to this class was being able to choose a new pendulum. I got an unusual looking Amethyst pendulum that seemed as if it was looking at me: there is a darker circular area that to me looked like an eye. This reminded me of the third eye, so I chose it.  Full disclosure: I also chose it because the 5 pendulums prior to that said “No” when I asked them if they wanted to work with me. Keep reading
