I was feeling discouraged about how things were going in my business recently when I ran into a dear friend at one of my favorite local health and wellness shops. After we hugged, she asked me how things were going, and I said something about being stalled–whatever I said, I’m sure my discouragement shone through.
Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out this crystal and put it in my hand.
“Take this. It’s fluorite. It’s for determination,” she told me.
I was walking at the beach and, as usual, I found myself unconsciously looking for rocks. I love rocks! Anyway, when I became aware of what I was doing, I had the thought that maybe I should try being fully present and deliberative as I looked this time.
I set an intention to find my favorite blue rocks, but with a twist. I asked to find the ones with what I think of as ‘the faces’ on them. Almost right away one showed up. That’s the blue one on the right, above. Next, I asked for another one to be extra sure that I actually did attract the first one. That’s when the white one showed up. It’s above on the left. I think this one was white because I associate that color with the angels, and perhaps it was an angel assisting me in my quest at that moment.
I went to a class at Lavish Earth Holistic Center and Crystal Showroom in Westbrook last weekend. The topic was Beginning Energy Workshop.
First, Amy taught us all a method of clearing ourselves that was new to me. I have used it often since the class–every day, in fact! I love it.
Then she talked about the ceremony of using crystals as part of energy healing, and I thought, YES! YES! YES! This! I love how she added a new dimension for me to how I do this work.
An added bonus to this class was being able to choose a new pendulum. I got an unusual looking Amethyst pendulum that seemed as if it was looking at me: there is a darker circular area that to me looked like an eye. This reminded me of the third eye, so I chose it. Full disclosure: I also chose it because the 5 pendulums prior to that said “No” when I asked them if they wanted to work with me.
I was packing up my stuff to bring to my book sale and signing, when it occurred to me that maybe some of my crystals wanted to come with me. Which ones, though? I could see that the rose quartz was dying to come with. Rose quartz is all about love, and so is my book. Loving others, but also loving oneself. Rose quartz? You are so coming to the party.
Citrine was another no-brainer. Hello? Prosperity!!! Abundance!!! Bring it.
Celestite: Calming. Aids communication. Yes, I need that. I added it to the pile. I also wore a blue lace agate necklace. This stone helps with clarity and communication as well. I love it!
I get a lot of my big ideas near the water, and often that means at the ocean. One particular day when I was dreaming big and wondering if it was too big, I asked the Universe, “Am I on the right track with this?”
I kept listening for an answer, and the signs arrived pretty soon thereafter. I saw a mussel shell, a small one, that reminded me of my childhood when I often spent summer days at Nantasket Beach with my grandmother. I collected these shells and kept them in a shoebox on her front porch.

A pendulum can be a handy (no pun intended 🙂 ) tool to come to your rescue. This chakra quartz crystal pendulum came from Lavish Earth. I wasn’t looking for a pendulum that day, but (as so often happens), this pendulum was looking for me.
I love it when things like that happen!
To clear your crystal pendulum of any unwanted or stagnant energy (either when you first bring it home or when it’s not giving you clear answers), you have several options. Today, I am clearing my pendulum by leaving it out in the sunlight for a while. That’s all.
